It is the capital of England and UK and is divided into two main areas: the Greater London and the London Metropolitan Region. London has oceanic climate which is likely to be of southern Britain’s. City of London along with the thirty-two boroughs consist the districts of London. Most Londoners are Christians averaging to 58.2 percent of the population while the rest are those who have no religion, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jews. London has twinning arrangement with different cities like New York, Moscow, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai, and others. It has also built friendship agreement with Los Angeles, Beijing, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Dhaka, Istanbul, and etc. The culture of Londoners is more of festivals, music, arts, museum, and other entertainment activities. Aside from being Europe’s largest metropolitan zone, London has several historical attractions which may be the primary reasons why visitors come often to the city.

About 14 million international travellers visit London every year which makes it the most visited city in the world. The following are the top five reasons why a backpacker or even a group of travellers should visit London:

It is one of the largest financial centres in the world along with New York. Businessmen are scheduled a trip to London for corporate activities and series of investment proposal meetings. In fact, Central London shelters the headquarters of over 100 of the 500 largest European companies.

World-renowned attractions are also one of London’s important assets. People go here to see the Big Ben, the National Gallery, the Tower of London, Imperial War Museum, Science Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate Modern, Madame Tussauds, Museum of London, and the London Transport Museum with their very own eyes.

Annual festivals and fun activities also fascinate the travellers. Some of the many well-visited festivals in London are the Notting Hill Carnival which is a street parade and party, the Chelsea Flower Show, Brick Lane Festival, British Travel Trade Fair, Clapham Urban Games, Freeze Festival, Islam Expo, London Fashion Week, London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, St. Patrick’s Day, Rise Festival, and the Strip Poker Festival. Few of these festivals are bizarre and can only be seen in the city of London.

Dining in London is exceptional that is why many food enthusiasts come here to have a taste of the traditional London food and other modern and unique cuisines within the city. A variety of food paradises like family restaurants, pre-theatre restaurants, cheap London restaurants, museum restaurants, quirky London restaurants, organic restaurants, traditional restaurants, and vegetarian restaurants will surely delight the raging tummies of these people.

Lastly, London is also a shopping haven for tourists. From high-end shops to the bargain markets, London gives it visitors a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Some of the top shopping destinations in the city are the Carnaby Street, Canary Wharf, Knightsbridge, King’s Road, and etc.

These attractions and activities are only few of the reasons why travellers choose London as their place to be. As simple as the culture of London or as fancy as the accommodations in the city may be the purpose of these visitors. What’s amazing about London is that it may have evolved into a huge financial city; it still protects and boasts its historical and cultural sites. Tourists also will not have a hard time on communicating with the local people for they speak English and the city if filled with people who came from across the globe. Visit London and see what’s in store for you.

These festivals would usually draw in a record number of domestic and foreign tourists. One of the major festivals is the City of London Festival. This festival takes center stage on the City of London itself where the festival is celebrated for three to four weeks during the months of June and July. This is mainly a festival of music where the thrust would be in the rendition of classical music with a spattering of music like jazz and other kinds. This festival is a mixture of live bands, opera, film screenings, lectures and tours for visitors.

Beside the festivals, the other attractions are the many historical landmarks that are in London. They have actually four sites that were classified as world Heritage Sites. These sites which are often visited by foreign as well as domestic tourists are the imposing Tower of London, the famous settlement of Greenwich, the ever beautiful Royal Botanical Garden Kew, Westminster Abbey and the huge St. Margaret Church. Other historical landmark attractions are the House of Parliament, Big Ben, St. Paul’s cathedral and Trafalgar Square. Of all these historical sites, the most visited by foreign tourist is the Buckingham Palace where visitors can witness the world famous changing of the Guards ceremony.
